Who We Are

InnBrief (innbrief.com) is a hotel industry intelligence platform operated by Mike Storm. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

Information We Collect

Newsletter Subscription

When you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address. We use this solely to deliver our daily newsletter and occasional updates about InnBrief. We do not sell, rent, or share your email address with third parties.

LinkedIn Sign-In

If you sign in with LinkedIn to access InnBrief tools such as the Property Impact Brief, we receive your name, email address, LinkedIn profile URL, and professional headline through LinkedIn's OAuth service. This information is used to personalize your experience and is stored in our database. We do not post to your LinkedIn account or access your connections.

Analytics & Cookies

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use our site — which pages are visited, how long people stay, and general geographic region. This data is aggregated and does not personally identify you. Google Analytics uses cookies; you can opt out using Google's opt-out browser add-on.

Local Storage

We store your theme preference (dark/light mode), bookmarked stories, and certain UI preferences in your browser's local storage. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to our servers.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to deliver our newsletter, provide access to InnBrief tools, improve our content and user experience, and monitor site performance. We do not use your information for targeted advertising, and we do not sell your data to anyone.

Data Retention

Newsletter subscriber data is retained until you unsubscribe. Upon unsubscribing, your email is marked as inactive in our system and excluded from all future mailings. LinkedIn sign-in data is retained as long as your account remains active. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.

Third-Party Services

InnBrief uses the following third-party services that may process your data in accordance with their own privacy policies:

Google Analytics — site usage analytics. LinkedIn — optional sign-in and professional identity. Our hosting provider — server infrastructure and data storage. We encourage you to review their respective privacy policies.

Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you. You can unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time using the link at the bottom of every email, or by visiting our unsubscribe page.

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect and the right to request its deletion.

Children's Privacy

InnBrief is a professional industry publication and is not directed at individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Your continued use of InnBrief after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
